Synchronised Generators?

What is Generator Paralleling?

Is Generator Paralleling the same as Synchronised Generators?

Basically yes, but not to be confused with synchronous generators. Synchronous generators and generator paralleling are two different concepts in the context of electrical power systems. Synchronous generators are devices that convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. They are called "synchronous" because the frequency of the electrical output is synchronised with the speed of the generator, which is typically driven by a prime mover such as a steam turbine or a gas engine. Synchronous generators are commonly used in large power plants and in other applications where high power output and high efficiency are required.

On the other hand, generator paralleling refers to the process of connecting multiple generators in parallel to provide a larger amount of power output than a single generator can provide. When generators are connected in parallel, their electrical outputs are synchronised so that they have the same voltage and frequency. This allows them to work together to supply power to a common load, and also allows for redundancy in case one of the generators fails.

What is Generator Paralleling or Synchronised Generators?

In technical terms, Paralleling in electrical generator terms is the combination or synchronisation of two electrical inputs by matching the output voltage waveform of one electrical system with the voltage waveform of another system. To put it in simpler terms, paralleling generators or synchronising generators is connecting two or more generators to provide more wattage.

This connection will work together in a way that increases the wattage amount that goes into the equipment or building you are powering by automatically turning on or off one or more generators as power is needed or not needed (able sales can synchronise up to 32 generators easily and many more if needed). Paralleling increases the power supply which then allows for more than just the necessities to be on and running during a power emergency.

What Are The Benefits of Paralleling Generators?

Rather than relying on only one generator during an energy crisis, more hospitals, mine sites, farms and even small cities are acknowledging the advantage of synchronising generators. Joining multiple generators enhances dependability, enables variable load management, and offers greater maintenance capabilities without much, or no, break in supply.

The main advantage of paralleling generators is taking away single points of failure in an emergency power system, which reduces the likelihood of power loss if a generator fails. Joining a few generators together can be more useful for hospitals and mine sites offering ongoing emergency care and important standby power supplies.

The New Rules of Paralleling Generators

Matching units for paralleling isn't easy. Able Sales electricians experienced with paralleling understand the importance of buying generators able to run alongside other units. Some need to be the same brand. When sizing generators to pair, matching up load requirements for paralleling generators is often difficult. It’s difficult to accurately predict the unexpected increases and decreases in your load when adding and subtracting equipment or tools. Finding perfect matches for paralleling generators can be difficult, but Power Temp Systems’ Smart Generator Paralleling Panel provides a way to parallel almost any generator.

The Smart Generator Paralleling Panel facilitates the rapid and secure paralleling of multiple varieties, measurements, and makes of generators - even those without the capacity for paralleling. Available from 2 to 32 configurations, these panels come with a web-based surveillance system allowing you to observe and handle your panel from any location. Each of the generators can be independently monitored via any internet-enabled device e.g. PC, laptop, or mobile phone. The software enables power system surveillance at any time or place.

Furthermore, the Smart Panel provides increased flexibility enabling any generator to be connected for additional energy supply as need be. Spare generators can be detached from the unit when no longer needed to be used alone at another location. Reach out to the power distribution specialists at Power Temp Systems to find out more on the Smart Generator Paralleling Panel and how it can upgrade your emergency power system at your premises.
